Empowering Women and Bringing “Aloha” from Hawaii to the Slopes in Arosa
The Butterfly Effect will land once again in Switzerland on March 10th, encouraging girls and women of all ages to get out on the slopes and experience a shared camaraderie and unity with other water(snow)-women.
The Butterfly Effect is a fun, non-competitive event, and is aiming to instill selfconfidence and a love for the ocean and mountain in women of all skill levels. Local and visiting women will gather on the slopes of Arosa to learn, ride, and share snow riding skills. There will also be The Butterfly Effect “downhiller” that the event is known for, which is gathering at the very top of the mountain and all the participants ride down together as a group to the very bottom. The women will be snow boarding and skiing. The event includes safety and stretching sessions, as well as food and gear from local sponsors, and riding clinics. The Butterfly Effect began in Hawaii in 2007. Tatiana Howard, the founder of the event, is a professional water woman who enjoys windsurfing, surfing, kitesurfing, stand up paddling, tow in surfing, and now snowboards! This is the 2nd winter edition event in Switzerland. The first snow edition event was held in Grindelwald in 2011. Since The Butterfly Effects inception, it has flown to Brazil, New Zealand, France, Oregon, Dominican Republic, Germany, Italy, Israel, Tahiti, Fiji, Sweden, and Australia. The founders believe that water sports provide a healthy and fun lifestyle that gives those who participate in the events great happiness and self –confidence.
“Water sports have empowered, and inspired me to live out my hopes and dreams and giving back to surf/snow communities worldwide is a passion I wish to share with many!” Tatiana Howard, founder, The Butterfly Effect.
